NEBOSH – HSE Certificate in Process Safety Management (PSM) – English

The NEBOSH HSE Certificate in Process Safety Management (PSM) has been developed through collaboration between NEBOSH and the UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE). It is specifically designed for individuals with safety responsibilities in process industries, such as oil and gas, chemicals, plastics and pharmaceuticals. It equips delegates with a broad understanding of accepted principles and recognised industrial practices for the management of process risk, ensuring they can recognise and contribute to the control of process safety hazards.

Process Safety Management is a combination of engineering and management skills focused on preventing catastrophic accidents and near misses due to loss of containment of energy or hazardous substances. Key topics include process safety leadership, management of process risk, process safety hazard control, fire and explosion protection, and the establishment of process safety systems, asset management, safe start‑up and shutdown procedures, performance standards for safety‑critical systems, and emergency planning.
